Through G.O. No.672, the Government has decentralised approval powers and introduced a uniform three-tier verification system to reduce delays in issuing revenue certificates.
Key changes 👇
✅Approval of 15 certificates—including First Graduate, Widow, Unemployment, Inter-caste Marriage, EWS and Small/Marginal Farmer certificates—delegated from Tahsildars to Deputy Tahsildars.
✅Destitute Widow Certificate: authority shifted from the RDO to the Tahsildar (Social Security Schemes).
✅New three-tier process:
VAO → Revenue Inspector → Deputy Tahsildar/SSS Tahsildar
✅Applicants will be able to track the stage of scrutiny and see the reason if an application is returned or rejected.
✅Returned applications can be corrected through any e-Sevai centre across Tamil Nadu.
With 26 revenue e-certificate services now available online, this reform is intended to reduce pendency, ensure accountability and deliver certificates to citizens within the stipulated time.
